How to Look and Act Like a "Clique" Girl

1
A popular girl
    • A popular girl's hair is usually silky, smooth, and shiny.
    • A popular girl usually has people to sit with at lunch.
    • Popular girls have side bags and little purses.
    • Popular girls normally have braces in 4th or 5th grade, so then when they go to middle school there teeth are all straight.
    • Popular girls don't always wear makeup. Some do wear makeup, but it's sometimes impossible to tell, unless it's lip gloss and eye shadow.
    • Popular girls don't have to wear jewelry. Though some popular girls wear earrings. Some popular girls wear necklaces.
    • Popular girls are usually never overweight! Don't worry, though; Dylan is always working on her diet. They are clean-looking, and totally hate when they get stains on their clothes!
    • Popular girls can wear sneakers, Uggs, pumps ( ballet flats) and heels. Sandals aren't really considered a shoe...only if they're stylish.
    • Popular girls always have a phone or an iPod touch (since you can text and call if you have 4th generation, but only if you have Wi-Fi) so then they can keep in touch with their friends.
    • Popular girls in Middle School or late Elementary School normally have emails (mostly gmail so they could use Buzz, something a little bit like Facebook), skype accounts, and sometimes Facebook accounts! Normally all popular girls in late Middle School or High School will have a Facebook and Twitter.
    • Popular girls can have bangs/no bangs. Either way, they can be popular.
  1. 2
Become friends with a popular girl:
    • First, you never copy them! They will know what's up, and people will think that you are a LBR and will hate you for it.
    • Walk up to the girl and give her a compliment. Then, ask them a question, or start a conversation with them! It works perfectly.
  2. 3
Determine what kind of 'Clique' girl you are:
    • Massie is a leader. She is the alpha that rules the school. She has wavy, chestnut brown hair with caramel highlights (slightly long, chest-length), amber eyes and slightly tan skin. She is most likely to be a fashion planner when she grows up. She is straight-forward and witty. She likes to stay in charge and can make any outfit work. Massie loves to show off, whether it's her new Prada or even her trusty sidekick pug Bean! She tries her hardest to stay beautiful, poised, and chic. She loves to show off and has no problem to humiliate you to get what she wants. She has the funniest and wittiest disses ever, and she even humiliates her clique sometimes when she feels threatened, but they always remain friends.
    • Alicia is a beta, Massie's best friend and second-in-command! She is a huge gossiper and too gorgeous for words, even prettier then Massie, who is known for her beauty. She wears designer clothes and has an attitude that's GREAT for parties. She has long, straight black hair and big brown eyes. She is half-Spanish, so she has naturally tan skin. Alica wants to be a news reporter. She is the most beautiful girl in school and loves Ralph Lauren!
    • Kristen is the brainiac-slash-sporty girl of the group. She lives at Brickview Apts. because she is too poor to afford a nice place to live, and has a scholarship at OCD. She is very athletic, and is the captain of the OCD soccer team. She has straight, dirty-blond hair that goes to her her mid back and sea-blue eyes. She generally takes designer hand-me-downs from the PC, and otherwise shops at places like H&M.
    • Dylan is constantly worried about her weight and is always on a diet, though she never sticks to it. She's been on all-bran diets, circle diets, zone diets, you name it! Dylan's not really fat though, just a little. She likes to eat and constantly burps, jokes, and makes burp jokes. She has green eyes and fiery red mid-back ringlets, although it was permanently straightened in later books. Pick one that has an important, famous, or influential heritage/family, as her mother is Merri-Lee Marvil, the famous talk-show host of The Daily Grind.
    • Claire is the newest member of The Pretty Committee, and quite naive, though she gets less naive throughout the series. She is sweet and hates doing sneaky things, but she does them anyway to make Massie happy. She has long (chest-length), blonde hair with bowl-cut bangs. She tries to grow out her bangs, but they never grow fast enough! Claire was very unfashionable and an outsider at first. The Clique hated her, but she was staying at Massie's guesthouse since their parents had been college friends. Claire arrived in 2-seasons-ago Gap OVERALLS, so Massie pretty much hated her right away! However, by the third book, they start to become friends, and Claire ends up living in their guesthouse. Claire gets tons of Massie's designer hand-me-downs (mostly Massie's though, and not so much of the other PC members), so she becomes more fashionable.
  3. 4
Wear make-up, but not too much. All you need is some bronzer, a bit of mascara, and lip gloss. Lip gloss is the major thing. Lip gloss is a necessity! Massie is constantly applying lip gloss. Massie gets a daily delivery of "Glossip Girl," which is not real, but she also uses Lancome Paris Juicy Tubes! The high-quality type of lip gloss is better, the kind with applicators, lip liners, and lip plumpers, but it doesnt matter, really. Pretty much any make-up you find at Sephora is a-okay!!
  4. 5
Get great clothes. Alica loves Ralph Lauren, and Massie loves pretty much all designer brands (except ones that slaughter animals for leather, fur, etc) like the ones mentioned in the books, but not everyone can get these clothes. There are plenty of things you can do to make a great outfit while keeping within a budget. Have at least 5 designer purses, 3 Juicy Couture tracksuit jackets, and some designer clothing items (1 pair of designer jeans, a few designer jackets, and a few designer shirts, at least. Oh, and ALL of your shoes MUST be designer. Some Coach shoes can actually be pretty cheap when they go on sale. And you need Juicy Couture sneakers, Uggs, and heels from other major shoe designers like Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, etc), though. For the rest of your wardrobe, you can go to Abercrombie, A&F, Hollister, Aeropostale, American Eagle, PacSun, Forever21, and Charlotte Russe! Do NOT go to P.S. Aeropostale or Justice/Limited Too if you are 12 and up unless you're anywhere between 6-10. Whenever you shop, always pick up some accessories- headbands, purses, scarves, belts, you name it! Great accessories make a put together Clique-y outfit.
  5. 6
Choose a healthier way of being 'weight conscious'. The girls in the Clique books obsess over diets and weight, but in reality this is not healthy. As a general rule, don't eat if you aren't hungry, but eat something low in fat if you are hungry. Exercise as often as you can (try joining a sports team at school) and always try to pick a health diet of natural, organic, unprocessed foods and raw fruits and vegetables. If you really want to lose weight, just steer clear from oily pizza, fattening ice cream, chips, pasta, and breads. Eat plenty of yummy yet healthy snacks like carrot sticks, baked potatoes (no sour cream), and fruit. Don't deprive yourself of meals - this will slow down your metabolism.
  6. 7
Take care of your hair. Glossy tresses will always be IN! here are a few tips for keeping your locks in peak condition: rinse with cold water. This will make your hair shinier and stronger. Use a clarifying shampoo once a week this will remove dirt and build-up. DON'T wash everyday! Every other day or so will be good. Doing it everyday will remove your natural shine and dry out your hair.
  7. 8
Have good comebacks. Sometimes your beta (second command to you) isn't always around to fight your battles. Make sure you have a few clever remarks to shoot.
  8. 9
Say things slowly so people understand you.
  9. 10
It's better to be nice to anyone outside of the clique, unlike Massie. You'd gain more friends, and more people would respect you instead of worship you.

Tips

  • Look at yourself in the mirror. Ask yourself, "Do I really want to sacrifice my personality for shiny hair?" If the answer is no, then don't change yourself to be just like some FICTIONAL book and movie characeter. It's not worth it.
  • Have good posture. No slouching!
  • Try to get to know everyone. Ask around for IM screen-names, and trade cell numbers often, if you have a cell phone.
  • If you're not good at comebacks, make a list of good ones and study them every day. Hold your head up high in school and look brave, as if to say, "don't mess with me."
  • Take care of your skin! Use a good quality moisturizer on your legs and arms. And make sure you wash your face everyday.
  • If you can afford one, iPhones are super cool. Already have a phone? Ask for the iPod Touch. It has the same features but no cell phone. Keep in mind, any cell makes you look cool.
  • LIP GLOSS IS A NECESSITY! You can still be a Clique member without lip gloss though as long as you use chapstick and take good care of your lips. *The Cliques are very girly but a tomboyish girl could still be a Clique memeber. Remember: Everyone has their own personality.
  • Always have a "beta." She could be your best friend.
  • Stick together! You and all of your friends have to back each other up when someone is being mean to one of your friends. Always stick up for you and your friends.
  • Being in a Clique may have a powerful effect that makes you feel "bossy", but still be nice. The key to friendship is being nice, a great friend, and always sticking up for each other. Don't take garbage talk from other people. You and your friends need comebacks.
  • Being nice is super important. You shouldn't exclude people, because all it does is make you a jerk. BE NICE. :)

Warnings

  • Bullying is NOT cool. So their not in the Clique? So what?! Don't start fights and don't bully like the girls in the Clique do even though it sounds witty and "cool". But don't take rubbish off of others either. If they start it...
  • People will be looking to put you down at first. Prove them wrong!
  • You'll encounter tough decisions that will hurt friends. If you want to stay alpha/beta/gamma, then usually you should choose the option that will keep you in that position.

Things You'll Need

  • Perfume. Bath and Body Works has a lot of nice perfumes. The most popular perfumes at Bath and Body Works is Sweet Pea and Vanilla Coconut.
  • Shower Gel. Shower Gel isn't JUST about smelling good, even though you should choose a smell you like. Shower Gel makes your body smooth, and is perfect for shaving because you have a least likely chance of scratching yourself compared to soap.
  • Shampoo and Conditioner. Some good products are Dove and Pantene Pro-V. And remember, don't choose just a random shampoo. Look at the labels closely, do you really want to give your hair volume? What about make your hair straight? Choose what you think will make your hair pretty.
  • Hair brush. Not the sharp pointy hair brushes, the ones with the little dots on the end of them. They really comb out your hair, and they don't scratch your scalp every time you use them.
  • Nail filer. You need to keep those nails cool and clean. Wash them every day and trim them weekly.
  • Nail polish. Crackle nail polish is what all the popular girls wear (Don't get cheap knock off crackle nail polish because they hardly crackle at all). They also like nail polish stickers from Sally Hansen. They are a bit of a pain to apply to nails, but totally worth it!

How to Be a Popular Girl

Steps

  1. 1
Make a good first impression on everybody you meet. First impressions can make you or break you and you want every person you meet to remember you in a positive way. Remember, you only get one chance to make a first impression and make sure it is good so people rethink you as a friend and might even talk to you again. So remember not to be too pushy or too shy. Keep a balance and even though most popular kids seem hyper don't try to act really cool or they will see through it!
    • Dont be annoying or nosy about everything. Be nice to everyone and say hi to people you dont normally say hi to, but dont walk up to people who are in a conversation and try to listen to them. It is just crazy what some people who think they are popular do! Keep yourself calm cool and collected! Act confidently but not "hot stuff make way" or "I'm way better than you". Always be friendly!
    • Make eye contact. Don't look at the floor. When you look at the floor that shows people that you're shy and want to be left alone. Keep your head up high and people will think that you're willing to try. That is the impression that popular people make! Confident and happy to be exactly who they are! They wouldn't change and you shouldn't have to to be popular!
    • Smile! You want to come off as friendly, don't you? If your teeth aren't exactly white, invest in some whitening strips. If whitening strips aren't for you then simply brush 2-3 time daily and floss once daily, it takes less than 10 minutes a day! If they aren't as straight as they could be, ask your orthodontist about braces. Once you get them off, your smile will be perfect. Another thing to consider is invisalign teen. They are clear and will still improve your beautiful smile!
    • Make sure you have good hygiene. Many people will be turned off if you smell bad, so make sure you brush your teeth twice a day, shower and wash your hair and body often, wash your face (there are many good brands of acne solutions, and masks also work well), and invest in deodorant/perfume, but make sure you do not overload in the perfume or people will be turned off. Good perfumes will make you look wealthy and make a good impression. Juicy couture has the best perfumes money can buy but no one can afford them so look for free samples to spritz every once in a while and on special occaisons! Also shave if you need to. I would not reccomend shaving legs! If can be painful and everyone does not have that hairy of legs as they think! It is unneccessary and even stupid in some cases! Shaving pits however is very neccessary and should be done regularly.
    • Be all ears. Pay attention to what the other person is saying. Don't concentrate on yourself so much that you don't catch the person's name. Most popular girls are depicted as people who only brag about themselves, but this is not the case. Talk and commpliment the person it will make them feel special and they will like you! People who are not too chatty come off as sincere and good natured!
    • Speak clearly. No mumbling! When it's your turn to speak, talk loudly and clearly, but don't shout. You don't want to scare them off.Be gentle with your voice but sound pleasant.
  1. 2
Become friends with the popular/friendly girls. Try to hang out with them for a while. Make sure to be polite to them. Learn about what's happening in the "in" crowd and pick up on the slang. You don't want to finally get in, and then have the most popular girl say something and have no clue what she is talking about.
  2. 3
Make an effort to stay in style. Try wearing makeup, or making a signature accessory. People say "Don't change, and just be yourself." This is true, but make sure to be your best self. Take it one step at a time, and build your confidence.
  3. 4
Be confident. Walk up, show the girls your stuff, and "wow" them. If your not comfortable with this then work on having people skills.
    • Know that there are many ways to change. You could change your dressing style, or become outgoing instead of shy. But don't change something big like your morals just to be popular.
    • Get your own clothes sense figured out. It’s no secret that style can get you far in the girl world. Go through your wardrobe and pick out what fits your style. You don't have to go over the top or shop everywhere. Find a store/brand that you like and always get stuff from that place. Get some fashion advice from magazines and friends.
    • Take your hair for a ride. While not essential, a change to your hair could be just the wake-up call you need to feel confident and get out there as a popular girl. As with everything else, make sure your hair is well-groomed and taken care of as often as possible.
    • Apply makeup carefully if you like putting on makeup. Even if you don't need makeup, putting it on can boost your confidence. While most popular girls wear makeup, it’s important to be tasteful about it.Makeup can help you to emphasize things you like about your appearance, and draw attention away from things you don’t. Concealer, mascara, lip gloss, and maybe some eyeshadow or liner, are all you need. Carry these things around with you in a cute bag for touch-ups. Just know that makeup is not to give a totally different appearance, but to emphasize your best features instead. For example, green eyes look amazing with natural tan eyeshadow.
  4. 5
Listen more than you talk. People will want to be around someone who makes them feel better about themselves, not someone who is clearly just planning the next thing they're going to say. So don't be chatterbox; you can't listen with your mouth open. Ask them questions, but not enough to sound like a stalker. People love a person who takes the time to find more about them.
  5. 6
Be empathetic. Popular girls know when someone needs a smiling friend, a compliment, or a hug. It's okay to be shy, but if you want to be popular, you have to smile, start conversations, and relate to people at their own level. That means talk about what the other person is interested in. Don't get stuck in the idea that you are shy or withdrawing. Realize that you are constantly changing, and that you are developing your social skills to the point where you could relate to all people. You have the right to change and grow.
  6. 7
Keep in mind the definition of popular: Many people consider you a friend and admire you. People are much less intimidated by someone who is friends with a variety of people and doesn't put anyone less lovely than themselves down. Strange how most 'populars' are cruel and discriminative huh?
  7. 8
Be confident. Stop thinking you are ugly or that you aren't cool enough. Everyone is either beautiful on the inside, outside, or both. Be comfortable with that! Think of your qualities for a while. You're cool through them. Just believe in yourself and let people know the real you.
  8. 9
Take care of yourself. This doesn’t mean you have to starve yourself. Rather, try to get into shape. Eating healthy and exercising everyday is important and effective; so is staying clean with good hygiene. Drinking plenty of water can help your skin look great and improve your overall health. If you get to the point where you feel good about your body and the great shape you keep it in, others will see that. Try yoga, swimming or aerobic dancing.
  9. 10
Be outgoing. Being shy won’t win you any new friends. You’re going to have to get out there and talk to people. You cannot be afraid to talk to others. Like people and show it! Be friendly and interested in people, and many of them will like you back. You don't win popularity by hiding in the corner or expecting people to approach you. If you're shy, make friends with really outgoing people. They will encourage you to talk to other people, and soon it will be easier for you.
    • Make sure to talk about things that other people are interested in. People can be very passionate when talking about their interests. Even if it's just walking from one class to another, find someone that has the same schedule as you do so that you can walk and talk. If you really feel like doing something will benefit you, ask a friend to do it with you.
  10. 11
Know the guys. If you want to be popular, you can't just be friends with the popular girls. Talk to the popular/friendly/kind guys and don't be afraid. Also, be flirty. This can prove for a fun conversation. Do this more often, and try to in the end have almost as many popular/kind guy friends as popular/kind girl friends. Remember, to be popular, you have to know all the popular girls, and guys have to like to be around you. That can't really be accomplished if you don't have any guy friends.
  11. 12
Get involved. Popular girls are usually well-rounded, and comfortable in almost every sphere of the school. Join a sports team or club. This will help you to meet many new people and establish yourself in the school. Be sure to do something you actually like, as people can tell when you’re faking. No one likes someone who does a sport or club just to be popular. Try to do an after school activity every day if possible.
  12. 13
Know what your body language is telling people. For instance, when you cross your arms your body language can give the impression, "Don't bug me." Another example is slouching - a sign that says, "I don't feel like I'm very important." Positive body language is all about how you feel about yourself and how you make others feel. The most popular people in school or at a party usually know how to make everyone else feel good by using plenty of positives gestures like nods, eye contact and, most important of all, a sparkling, warm smile.
  13. 14
Sometimes, playing innocent helps. Let's face it, being popular will definitely make you lots of new friends, but it will also probably lead to a few jealous stares. If a so-called "friend" makes a nasty comment, laugh it off, pretend that it wasn't hurtful at all, and be bubbly. Others will see this and appreciate the fact that you can laugh at yourself. Act like you enjoyed the comment and as if someone were telling you an actual joke. Always be polite, calm, mature and sweet, and don't spread gossip or isolate someone to get revenge.
  14. 15
Use Twitter, if you are allowed to. Twitter is a great way to get in touch with people you know. Remember, take plenty of pictures and post them right away. Show that you can make cute camera poses, and have fun with your friends. Try to get people to view your page, but don't stalk them! You could also use MySpace, Facebook, or other sites.
  15. 16
Remember that popularity isn't everything! You have to remember that you are only one of over 7 billion people. If being popular means you have to harm yourself or others, don't. Taking DRUGS or drinking is NOT okay for anyone. If popular people do that, then they are not "cool".
  16. 17
Stay fit and try working out a little bit. Trying different sports is a great chance to meet new people, especially the guys. Most guys like girls who are sporty and have a good personality, but some popular guys only care if you're popular and pretty, so be careful who you hang out with.
  17. 18
If you are not the sportiest person, go for clubs and committees. Check out what's new in your school's activity list. Volunteering is also a great way to get to know more people.
  18. 19
Keep updated in your society at school. Know what is going on around you. Also, you should do well in school. If you don't, you can send to other people that you don't want to be at school.
  19. 20
Read magazines. Girl magazines such as GL and Teen Vogue give lots of tips about beauty and fashion. You can also know what's "in" and what's not. However, don't follow this kind of stuff too much. You still want to dress and act like yourself, so no matter what, stay YOU. Don't be who you aren't!

Tips

  • Try watching tv shows everyone else watches (Pretty Little Liars, The Secret Life Of The American Teenager etc.) so you will have something to talk about with the popular girls. Most of them are into those ABC shows.
  • Avoid telling lies. If you lie, don't let them know. You can really fully, earn their trust and feel confident. just call it a secret don't talk about it so much or the others will get annoyed (if they give you a secret)
  • Remember, those girls you think ignore you are people too; they might just not know you. Try to get to know them (take it slow), and show who you are inside. Popular kids are usually too busy (school, sports and after school activities) to take an interest in absolutely everyone. They just don't have the time!
  • Recognize that there are all kinds of people that are popular. Not all of the people that are popular are stereotypical mean girls, most are outgoing and likable.
  • Seek out friendship with the nicest member of the popular crowd. Be friendly, not pushy or needy. Usually they can help, but if you pull yourself into the group too fast, you'll be considered "stalking". Try to find two of the nicest girls and work on getting them to think you are cool. Once one of them thinks you are cool, then the others will latch on to that.
  • Slowly get involved with activities that will keep you as busy as they are. Pulling all A's, becoming really good at certain sports or helping out with school projects are good and also attention-grabbers. Win some awards or start a new fund raiser for charity.
  • Hang out with them once a week to start out with, preferably at lunch or in school. Don't push it, and don't always ask, "When should we hang out?". Then, escalate it to two times a week. Try to make it so that they ask to hang out with you more often than you ask to hang out with them. Look busy; making your time more valuable will make it more desirable.
  • If someone doesn't like you, get over it -- not everyone will. Be nice to them though, because they might come around and realize how fun you truly are.
  • Avoid staying home on weekends: make sure you are out having fun with your friends (or go solo). The more people see you, the more they'll like you. Studies have shown that familiar faces are more appealing than unfamiliar ones. It's still OK just to have an easy weekend, but sitting in the corner every weekend won't make you cool.
  • If someone is shy, don't gossip about how lame they are. Be friendly. Walk over to them and start a conversation. Learn something about them. Just because they are shy, doesn't mean they're boring! Maybe you'll make a new friend.
  • If you are shy then hang out with the nicest popular person. Don't leave yourself with the losers!

Warning

  • Don't copy other girls. This will make you seem like a wannabe.
  • Don't act or think that you are better than everyone else. You will be hated.
  • Don't try to be more popular than the already popular people. You will end up being bashed by them.
  • Don't act like you're "all that" just so people think you're cool, otherwise other people will end up thinking your to cocky to hang out with.
  • Don't pretend to like something you don't just because the other girls like it; remember to be yourself.
  • Do not break the law.
  • Don't forget about your family, spend time with them too!
  • When you are talking to your friends and they ask something like "What did you do this weekend?" don't end up saying things with too many details, or you'll just sound annoying.
  • Don't go on about the same subject for a long time.
  • Always make long stories short. For example, if you're going to say "We went to Valleyfair, and I got dizzy, and we walked all over, I saw this really cute guy, and I went on 25 rides," say, "We went to Valleyfair, it was fun to be with my family." instead.
  • The golden rule: Do not be mean or snobby! In the movies, they show popular girls as being mean, snobby, and rich. In reality, nobody wants to hang out with mean snobs, and it's 100% possible to be popular without being rich or owning a single designer outfit. The popular girls are the nice girls who are well-liked and have lots of friends.
  • Girls usually want to attract everybody's attention, but showing your body a lot is not the right way to do it. Just stick to your classic look. If your friends say that you're wearing some 90s dress, and pester you to wear modern dresses, don't do it just because your friends say to.
  • Try having 1 to 2 close friends, and many friends in general, whatever age.
  • Keep in mind that the college/university atmosphere is very different from high school. Popularity doesn't matter anymore. Middle school and High school are VERY different from real life, so don't become too reliant on your popularity, because you'll be in for a rude awakening.
  • Just be yourself, let people know who you are, and don't be afraid to say hello.

How to Become the Queen Bee of Your School

Steps

  1. 1
Have a clique. Your close friends should love you, not worship you, actually, because that would be extremely freaky and could mess you up later in life. Your official "clique" should consist of 2-6 girls. They should be loyal, smart (no Karen Smiths- I mean you aren't Regina, right?), COOL, pretty, fun, well-dressed, and nice people. Be super nice to them- help them when they need it, give them little gifts sometimes, invite them to do fun things, etc. This will max out how much fun you have in life, and keep them loyal. Remember, though- you want true friends, not idol worshipers (if your less close friends and classmates worship and idolize you, though, that would be a good thing). If you think people are straying, or less loyal to you (friends or acquaintances or whatever) then get a secret from them- never do anything nasty with it, that's really low, don't even threaten to, they'll just assume and understand and be nicer- or at the very least, if they do stray, won't turn on you. Individual clique members vary, but here's a list, pick what you will
2
The Alpha- She is the leader the girl who is pretty, fun, smart and nice she leads and cutest one who controls but with all qualities.
  • The sidekick. She loves but doesn't particularly idolize you. It's perfectly safe to let on to her that you aren't perfect and mention your problems. Yes, there is a risk to this- but life without risks is boring. She is, in short, your Best Friend Forever. It's convenient if she's a slightly watered down version of you- not quite as fabulous, but quite fabulous. To avoid being boring, she should have some modifications- if you play tennis, she runs track, for example.
  • The sweetheart. Not that you're all heartless people, but, you need one awesome nice girl in your clique, ideally. This is good because she can act as a buffer during fights, is great emotional support when anyone's feeling down, and is great at dealing with adults. She should still have similar qualities to the rest of your clique- fun, pretty, interesting, cool, smart- but softer and sweeter.
  • The nice weirdo. [She's optional because she could confuse people about what kind of people you hang with.] The one most people ignore or even bully because she's judged without actually talking to her, and once you do you'll be overwhelmed and pleasantly surprised by how nice and delightful she is, even compared to the sweetheart, but adults and youth alike think of her as an unpleasant girl. She has a style of her own that could compare her to another group of people but ask her to tone it down a bit and try to be a bit more social for her and the "clique"'s sake.
  • The pro. This girl has got talent- serious talent. Maybe she's an actress and practically runs the community theater. Maybe she's in the New York City ballet. Maybe she's in training for Olympic swimming. She's very busy, very with it, and looks great in whatever uniform or costume she has to wear for her niche. And yet still finds time for you guys? Well, who wouldn't?
  • The party animal. No, she does not get trashed, stoned, and wasted. She's a blast and a half, yes- but she does it with class. She doesn't party all the time- it just feels like a party, being around her! She's witty, gorgeous, an amazing dancer... oh, um, yeah, did we mention how fun she is?
  • The middle ground. She's basically your standard popular girl. Average, in the best sense of the word. If most of your clique is "out there" talented and outgoing, you need a little middle ground. So she's exactly that, to tone down the rest of the group. NOT to say she has no life other than popularity. Have you seen her calendar lately? But aside from, say, tennis lessons, she really is just interested in your basic teenage/preteen stuff. She's just better at it than any "basic" teen ever will be. Who's normal now?
  1. 3
Be confident! Though it sounds a tad bit desperate, type up exactly 1,000- no more, no less- reasons you rule. Read it about every other week, or whenever you need a pick-me-up. If that doesn't work, just try these tips:
    • If you aren't happy with how you look, here's a trick - put on way too much make-up. Every kind possible, to the point it looks really sickening. Then, wear it for an hour, during which you spend a lot of time looking in mirrors. Then wash it all off, and look in a mirror again - see how cute and fresh faced you look? That's how the world really sees you.
    • Go fish. Ask a family member or close friend what they like about you.
    • Listen to music from both sides of the story. First listen to "Ugly" by Brie Larson. Then listen to "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilara. See the contrast? Not to say that this is all you can listen to- but feel good type songs versus sad ones really can give you a boost.
    • Tackle something. Something big. Clean your room, even. Ouch. Did you just throw something at me? Once you see how far you've come (lower the stiletto and nobody gets hurt, Okay?) it'll make you feel great.
    • Tackle something long term. Take up tennis or ballet or modeling or whatever, and do great in it. It really will make you feel good.
    • Get new underwear. Lame sounding, I know. Potentially pricey, I know. Especially if you want it to be really cute. But it'll make you feel hot.
  2. 4
Look good. Scratch that- look amazing. From the top down...
    • Hair can be the defining feature, can make or break the bod. So be nice to yours. Take a shower daily, with decent shampoo or Marc Anthony. Wash your hair thoroughly and for a solid 3 minutes at least. Get a good lather going, really massage your scalp. Next, condition with a conditioner that complements your shampoo, leave the conditioner in for 2 minutes, and rinse out. Repeat if you want, and for extra silky hair, and wash with lotion once in awhile. Remember- if your hair's soft and clean, it'll be very, very shiny. Blow dry if you want it to be straight, or if you have to be somewhere- NEVER show up anywhere whatsoever with wet hair. Next, brush with a quality brush (boar bristle is best) and style as desired. Don't use too much gel or spray, though. Just a tiny, tiny bit is good. If you have to. Your best bet for a hair cut is short hair. Why? Because it's actually more feminine. If you have short hair and still look like a girl, it means that you're feminine through and through, and don't need to prove anything by growing 6 feet of hair (plus, it's easier to keep it nice this way). It also looks very sophisticated. So get it cut around shoulder length, layered, and maybe side swept bangs and a bit of a flip. Get your hair cut every 4-8 weeks, and go to the same stylist and salon every time. Get something special, like highlights or a gloss treatment once in awhile, too. Some popular hairstyles are: flippy with the top part pulled back, Messy buns with one of those skinny headbands, two skinny headbands, crimped in a half ponytail with a skinny headband... you get that skinny headbands are always in, right?
    • Your face should be clean, clear, and cute at all times. Don't get salon facials, as a good one will make your face blotchy and gross for a day before it kicks in- do them at home, with mud masques, every other week or so. Get a skin prescription to keep acne at bay (a blackhead or two is fine and you can still look gorgeous, but a pimple the size of a pineapple is not exactly what we're going for) ask your doctor, don't count on proactiv. Wear only natural make-up, so that you don't actually look like you're wearing make-up. Besides, guys hate it when you look painted and nobody will consider you pretty if they think you owe it all to sephora. Tinted moisturizer, concealer, face powder to set, mascara, lip gloss, some rosy blush and maybe neutral eyeshadow is all you really need.
    • You should have good oral hygiene. Brush your teeth, floss, and use mouthwash and mints. Brush your teeth and tongue two to three times a day (not in school, though). If you need a motive to brush, use flavored toothpaste, like cinnamon, vanilla, or lemon. Use crest white strips if necessary.
    • Take showers every day, and scrub everywhere thoroughly with a loofah and good soap.
    • Shave/ wax any hair that you think needs removing. This should not include your head. It keeps things clean, smooth and good-looking.
    • Stay in shape. Run track, do pilates, whatever it is, it's better to eat a little junk food and exercise than to lounge on the couch and eat nothing but celery.
    • Get manicures and pedicures professionally about every other week, but do your own when you need to. Use great nail polish, though, so it seems cooler.
  3. 5
Get the attitude. Not "an attitude" but "the attitude". Don't be evil. Be sweet to anyone you can possibly stand to be sweet to, civil to anyone you can possibly stand to be civil to, and if you can't handle them, try to avoid them. Don't be a goody two shoes- if someone jabs, jab back a little- but just remember that truly popular people don't need to bully- they're cool enough that their stats doesn't depend on it. The queen never openly attacks anyone- it's more the commoners, the nervous middle classes, that do it. If someone in your circle disses you, don't dump her, demote her a tiny little bit and get a secret from her- this is more effective, and less mean.
  4. 6
Dress Cutely. You know what the popular brands are (Abercrombie, American Eagle,Topshop, Hollister, Forever21, Old Navy, Aeropostale, GUESS?, Tommy Hilfiger, etc). If you want to go the extra mile: Juicy Couture, Marc Jacobs, Urban Outfitters, American Apparel. You want to look extremely classy. Be casual but fabulous. Wear amazing clothes, and have great style. And please, don't snub people for weird outfits, that's THEIR style and that's how THEY want to dress. Dress however you want but obviously, don't go to a dance wearing a tennis dress. You should love your outfits. The first step to getting everyone to want to be like you is looking great. You really cannot wear a five thousand dollar Oscar De la Renta gown to English class, and it might not even be advisable for your next school dance. Just brand name jeans, a lace edged top, and a Henley over it can work wonders. And don't forget jewelry and shoes! Have at least one pair of designer shoes, preferably heels or flats, and otherwise just have a lot of shoes, even if they aren't the greatest brands, because it's the mark of being girlie. For jewelry, never wear anything tacky or fake looking, get only quality jewelry, so no tacky plastic rings with glitter. It doesn't have to be 100% Tiffany, just so long as it's good quality. If you want people to follow your lead (or at least love you for your style), you need to show that you are a genuine person, and fake jewelry is most certainly NOT genuine. Diamond studs work wonders. And a designer purse. Knock-offs are fake, and fake bags are for fake people. Now, you don't want to be fake, do you? So the lesson there is, NO KNOCK-OFF PURSES, they don't look real and everyone knows it, you're not fooling anyone. Also, stay away from very flashy colors since this makes you look tacky and makes it seem like you're trying too hard to grab attention. Jeans should be a great fit, not making your hips overlap the edges (thus, muffin tops are born). Read fashion magazines to be inspired by the newest looks. I highly advise Nylon.
  5. 7
Learn to handle gossip delicately. Listen, babe, there is no way people can totally refrain from gossiping. It's how you do it that counts! Don't ever gossip about your close friends, and only trash someone behind their back if you think they deserve it said to their face- don't say it to their face, though, that's horrible. Make sure to only gossip with your trustworthy best friends, too. It's nothing whatsoever to be proud of, but it's human nature. Or, well, okay, girl nature.
  6. 8
COME BACKS: If a girl keeps annoying you, use some of these comebacks. Calling me ugly won't make you any prettier, calling me poor won't make you any richer, calling me fat won't make you any skinnier.

Tips

  • Make your room super cute and fit your personality. It's always nice to mix two styles, like classic chic and girlie cute to create a unique and chic look. Ask your parents if it's okay with them for you to get new bedspread, sheets, beanbag chairs, paint the walls... whatever you want to change. People will LOVE hanging out there if you love it.
  • Apply eyeshadow to exactly the crease of your lid, no higher or lower, unless it's sheer.
  • Curl your lashes- this makes anyone prettier, instantly. Then apply mascara.
  • Apply lip balm, different glosses for each lip, and rub together.
  • Wash your hair with lotion once in awhile
  • Get famous for something- something good or harmless, though. This is useful but not necessary.
  • Have a fashion "thing" like lace or the color red or whatever.
  • Try to learn at least one new word a week, and use it in your everyday conversations. It'll make you appear fascinating. Make sure you know what the word means, though.
  • Think of a catch phrase. Kristin Cavallari is famous for saying, "Obvi!" and Paris Hilton is constantly saying, "That's hot." Use your imagination. Say something in French or Italian, for example (both of these are considered "cool languages" as is Spanish), but please don't say cute or copy something from a book or TV show, that's just really lame.
  • Be a little unpredictable sometimes, but never do anything stupid, illegal, or perverted. If you go get arrested for something, depending on what it is you will either be known as a skank or hoebag by the girls, and a hottie by some guys, or just a stoner.
  • Keep up with pop culture type stuff. American teens talk about it a lot, so you'll need to be in the loop. Read teen vogue and fashion magazines like that. But DO NOT actually use the pull out posters they give you, those are kind of tacky and will make your room more cluttered. No offense. Read any kind of books you like as long as it's not inappropriate. Read the Clique, Gossip Girl and some classics, but nothing lame or tacky.
  • Don't ever get involved in something illegal or stupid. Even if what you did do (whatever it is) isn't bad, try not to get involved in anything that might upset people, because it ruins your reputation.
  • Don't get in trouble with teachers! If you are nice to them and follow their directions, then they won't humiliate you.
  • Bare make up works wonders. Stick to shades that will make your eyes pop. Always accentuate either your lips or your eyes. Never both, since it makes you look like a clown.
  • Keep up with school work and stuff. It really is important. Make mom proud.
  • Subscribe to a few magazines, like Seventeen, Teen Vogue, etc. It'll give you something to look forward to in the mail.
  • Order clothes online sometimes. See above reason.
  • Have at least one fun thing scheduled most weekends.
  • Take your group out for manicures, movies, dinner, shopping, etc... use your imagination here, but make it awesome, whatever it is!
  • You will want to own an iPod, computer, and cell phone if you can afford it.
  • In addition to doing small, exclusive things, have a few big parties every now and then- it'll get you new friends, and expand your circle. Plus, being closed off is kind of lame, right? Have a heart!
  • Don't swear, it's really stupid and rude. Besides, what's the point? You just sound like a person who wants to cause trouble.

Warnings

  • Don't let your popularity get to your head. There are people out there that, believe it or not, don't like you. Don't give them reasons to hate you even more.
  • Don't be mean.
  • Stay away from drugs.
  • Use common sense.
  • Some people will hate you, or envy you, for no reason and spread rumors. Just ignore them.
  • When working to stay in shape, don't go crazy and starve yourself. Always be healthy.

Things You'll Need

  • good friends
  • great social skills
  • perfume (optional)
  • nice clothes (they don't have to be expensive!)
  • tinted moisturizer
  • concealer
  • lipgloss
  • neutral eyeshadow (optional)
  • Mobile Phone
  • a clique and/or nice group of friends
  • purse (to store your stuff in!)

How to Get Soft Skin in 20 Minutes

Steps

  1. 1
Gather all of the items on the list. You can replace the salt with sugar, but you can't substitute any of the other items. Make sure you have each and every one of them.
  2. 2
Rub olive oil onto the area of skin. Pour a generous amount of olive oil onto the area and rub it in well. Cover the entire area, and rub in with massaging, circular movements. Don't be too hasty with this step, as it's essential.
  3. 3
Exfoliate with the salt. Pour a healthy amount of salt onto the area and scrub the area thoroughly. Don't be rough, as you may hurt your skin, but don't be afraid to really scrub, either. This is essential, as it will remove dead skin and help it become extra soft.
  4. 4
Leave it in for 10 minutes, and if you want to, keep scrubbing the salt in every now and then. Try to be patient with this step, because if you don't leave it in for ten minutes, your skin's not going to come out too soft.
  5. 5
Wash the mixture off, preferably with lukewarm water. Don't wash with soap or a cleanser-- you want to leave some olive oil in to keep your skin really soft.
  6. 6
Moisturise. Get a generous amount of moisturiser and rub it into the area. Make sure you actually rub it in-- otherwise it's not going to have the maximum effect.

Tips

  • If you have longer than 20 minutes, you may want to leave the mixture on for a longer time.
  • Moisturising everyday will help you achieve soft, healthy skin.
  • Water is also good for skin-- it'll give you that healthy glow.
  • If you have sensitive skin, you may want to skip the exfoliating part and just do the olive oil. The grittiness of the salt may irritate your skin and give you a rash.
  • If you're bored while waiting, try reading a book/magazine, watching TV, or talking to a friend.

Warnings

  • Sensitive skin may come out in rashes with the exfoliating, so it's best to skip that step.
  • Make sure you're not allergic to any of the items, as this will give you a rash or some other type of nasty reaction instead of soft skin.

Things You'll Need

  • Olive Oil
  • Salt is completely fine it works as a good exfoliator but sugar is completely fine as well
  • Moisturiser (Coca Butter)
  • Drinking water

Natural Cures for Teenage Acne

Instructions

Things You'll Need

  • Lemon
  • Cotton swabs
  • Cucumber
  • Eggs
  • Nutmeg
  • Milk
  • Cinnamon
  • Honey
  • Tomato
  • Garlic
  • Potato
    • 1
Rinse your face with warm water and pat it dry. Squeeze the juice out of a fresh lemon into a container. Dip a cotton swab into the lemon juice and apply it directly to the acne. (If you are covering a large area, rather than just a few separate pimples, use a cotton ball.) Leave it on the affected area for 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Pat dry. Do not apply any moisturizers or any other topical ointments for at least 2 hours.
    • 2
Wash a cucumber well, to remove any pesticides and wax that may still be on the skin. With the skin on, chop into pieces and put in a blender. You can use the "chop" or "puree" settings. (If you do not have a blender, you can grate the cucumber into fine shreds.) Rinse your face with warm water and pat dry. Cover your face with the cucumber mixture and leave on for 25 minutes. Cucumber is often used in spas to soothe skin inflammation on the skin and in the eye area.
    • 3
Take one egg, and separate the white from the yolk. (The yolk has high fat content and can clog pores.) Whip up the white and apply it to the entire face as a mask. Leave it on for 1 hour, then rinse with lukewarm water. If you wish, once the egg has dried on your face, you can leave it on overnight. Just remember to change your pillowcase the next morning.
    • 4
      The nutmeg-and-milk mixture
Mix 1/4 cup of nutmeg and 1/2 cup of milk into a paste. (Let the milk sit for a while first, so it is at room temperature.) Apply this paste to the affected area for 1 hour. Rinse with warm water. Pat your face dry.
    • 5
In the evening before going to bed, add 1 tbsp. of cinnamon to 3 tbsp. of honey. Mix into a paste. Apply the mixture to your face and let it sit for 1 hour. Leave it on overnight while sleeping (place a towel over your pillowcase, and if your hair is long, keep it pulled back). Try to sleep only on your back if possible. Wash it off the next morning, with warm water only. Do this every night for 14 days.
    • 6
Wash a fresh tomato and put in a blender. Set the blender to "chop." (If you chop it too fine, it will be too juicy to stick to the face.) Apply the chopped tomato to your face and leave it on for 45 minutes. Rinse with warm water. For another option, add half a cucumber to the tomato before chopping. Tomatoes can also be put on the face as slices instead of as a paste.
    • 7
Cut a fresh clove of garlic in half, or crush it. Rub the garlic on affected areas several times a day. Do this on a day when you don't have to go out for a long stretch of time, to allow the garlic juice to remain on your face. After several applications over the course of a few hours, rinse your face with lukewarm water and pat dry.
    • 8
Wash a fresh potato. Grate it into fine shreds and place them on your face. Leave them on for 30 minutes. Potatoes relieve the pain and inflammation of the skin that are caused by acne.

    Lifestyle Changes

    • 1
Get plenty of exercise, which is one of the best cures for acne. While it does stimulate the sweat glands, it keeps them working to remain unclogged, preventing acne flareups. Be sure to rinse face after heavy exercise.
    • 2
Cut back on caffeinated drinks, such as soda, lattes and coffees. Caffeine stimulates the glands to produce sebum, and it is the overproduction of sebum that clogs pores and hair follicles.
    • 3
Avoid sugary and highly processed foods that raise blood-sugar levels. According to a study published by Dr. Loren Cordain, increased blood-sugar levels cause skin to regenerate faster, thus causing dead skin cells to stick together and clog pores. They also cause an increase in sebum production, which clogs pores and hair follicles.
    • 4
      Drink more water.
Drink lots of water. Water hydrates the skin and prevents inflammation, keeping it healthy and smooth.
    • 5
Don't wash your face too much. Once in the morning and once before bed is enough. Too many soaps and chemicals on the face can trigger acne flareups.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always pat your face dry after cleansing, as harsh rubbing can irritate the skin and inflame acne.
  • Avoid using a lot of different products on your skin, especially moisturizers and lotions, as they can clog pores and trigger flareups. Give natural acne treatments time to work. Try a treatment a few times before moving on to another one. Always wait at least 24 hours before trying a different acne treatment.

Home Remedies To Remove Acne

1) Baking soda and toothpaste
While may find that baking soda and toothpaste work like a charm, others have negative reactions, so use them with care. If you have sensitive skin, try baking soda first.

Mix a little baking soda/water paste or plain toothpaste (DO NOT USE gel or whitening toothpaste), then dab it on your blemishes. Leave it for fifteen to twenty minutes, then gently wash it off. Don't try leaving it on overnight before you know how skin will react. Some find this treatment tingles or burns a bit, but if causes real pain, wash it off immediately because it can leave burn marks or even scars on some skin types.

If you have no reaction to either, you may want to try this acne home remedy overnight for acne on you face, back or chest.

2) Mint
Mint works as a gentle and quick home remedy for acne, and it smells nice, too. Pick up some fresh mint leaves from a grocer or farmers' market, or from your garden...mint is easy to grow. Squeeze the juice from the leaves and apply it to your face before you go to bed. If you have trouble getting the juice out, mash the leaves into a paste with water and leave this paste on your face for 15 minutes or so.

3) Lemon and Rose Water

Lemon is another natural home remedy with a pleasant scent. Simply rub a piece of lemon on your face, applying juice from the lemon that way. For a stronger treatment, mix fresh-squeezed lemon juice (from a lemon, not from a bottle) with rose water, which can be found in Middle Eastern foods shops, and apply to affected skin. Leave this on for half an hour, then rinse it off. Lighter cases of acne may clear in a few days, while tougher cases may take a few weeks to completely disappear. Some people mix in cinnamon or coriander, but use these spices with caution as they can irritate sensitive skin.

4) Green tea and Carrots

Green tea has anti-bacterial properties and the antioxidants it contains have a proven ability to prevent acne. To take advantage of this, boil a carrot (also know for their antioxidant properties) until it's soft enough to mash. Then make a cup of green tea and mix the tea and mashed carrot to form a paste. Put this paste on your blemishes and leave it on for approximately 15 minutes.

 5) Oranges and eggs

Orange peels can be a quick home remedy for acne - grind the peels and mix them with water to form a paste. Apply this paste to the affected parts of your face and leave it on twenty or thirty minutes. Another acne treatment using oranges is a mix of orange juice (again, from an orange, not a bottle) and egg white. Apply this to your face for 15 minutes to help clear the pores.

6) Strawberries

This berry makes a great quick home remedy for acne that occurs in spring and summer. Just mash 2 or 3 strawberries into a paste, spread this over clean, dry skin and leave it for five to 10 minutes.  Some are highly allergic to Strawberries when they eat them, in this case, it would be best to avoid using strawberries.

7) Garlic

Garlic both disinfects and acts as an astringent, but it doesn't have the pleasant smell of some of the remedies mentioned above. This natural treatment works even on persistent forms of adult acne. Just cut open a garlic clove and rub it gently on your skin to cover the blemishes with juice. It may take a few treatments for the acne to disappear, but you should see improvements within days.
